Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Project Will Bring New Services and Greater Access to Care in the Bay Area
Clear Lake Clinic will be transformed into Bay Area Campus with expanded services in primary and specialty care and a new Ambulatory Surgery Center and Cancer Center.
HOUSTON (Aug. 29, 2022) – Kelsey-Seybold Clinic announced today its plans to renovate and expand its Clear Lake Clinic and open two buildings on adjacent properties, including a 116,000-square-foot professional building with an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and a 32,000-square-foot Cancer Center. When the expansion is complete, the three buildings will be renamed Bay Area Campus and will expand access with new services and care that is easily accessible from I-45 just south of Beltway 8, directly across from Baybrook Mall.
“Clear Lake and surrounding communities are growing, and Kelsey-Seybold is also growing to meet the needs of patients here in the Bay Area and throughout all of Greater Houston,” said Tony Lin, M.D., Chairman and CEO, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. “With this expansion, we’re putting quality, compassionate care in easy reach of those who live and work in this thriving area.”
The new Bay Area Campus will open in several phases. The three-story, 25,000-square-foot expansion and renovation of the existing building will open in summer 2023. The first three floors of the new professional building will open in fall 2023. The ASC and the Cancer Center will open in fourth quarter 2023. Upon completion of all projects, Bay Area Campus will have space for up to 82 providers, more than tripling the current number of providers.
The Bay Area Campus ASC will expand access to surgical care in the Bay Area region with four operating rooms, three endoscopy suites, and a procedure room to support interventional pain management and interventional radiology (IR) services for port placement procedures with plans to add additional IR services in the future.
Patients will have access to comprehensive adult and pediatric primary care, as well as access to expanded specialty care in Anesthesiology, Allergy, Audiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, OB/GYN, Ophthalmology, Optometry, Orthopedics, Orthopedics-Sports Medicine, Otolaryngology, Palliative Care, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Medicine, Radiology, Rheumatology, Sleep Medicine, General Surgery, and Urology.
Support services will also expand to include a larger on-site Kelsey Pharmacy with an added drive-through, bigger on-site laboratory, and additional diagnostic imaging services such as two MRI machines, CT for enhanced cardiac imaging capability, 3D mammography, ultrasound, X-ray, including X-ray that measures bone density, and nuclear medicine imaging.
“This expansion in the Bay Area will make it possible for individuals and families to get highly specialized care and diagnostic services close to home in a setting that’s more affordable than a hospital,” said Kenneth Janis, M.H.A./M.B.A., chief operating officer, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.
The new Kelsey-Seybold Bay Area Campus was designed by Kirksey Architecture. Gamma Construction is the general contractor for this project.
