Dhruv Markan, MD, attended Shri B. M. Patil Medical College at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Karnataka, India, earning his medical degree in 2011. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency through Georgetown University’s MedStar Health program in Washington, D.C., in 2023. Trilingual in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, Dr. Markan joined Kelsey-Seybold as a board-certified Internal Medicine physician in July 2025.
Growing up in a small town, Dr. Markan saw firsthand the lasting impact his parents, both physicians, had on their community and was moved to emulate their dedication to service and building meaningful relationships. As an internist, Dr. Markan provides primary care for adults. He is dedicated to treating the whole patient, considering physical, emotional, and mental health needs. In addition to preventive and wellness care, Dr. Markan manages acute illnesses and injuries as well as chronic conditions like hypertension, obesity, diabetes, thyroid disease, asthma, seasonal allergies, urinary tract infections, and more. His clinical interests center on preventive medicine and lifestyle changes to help prevent and address risk factors for heart disease, diabetes, cancers, sexually transmitted diseases, and aging and loss of strength. Dr. Markan’s favorite part of practicing medicine is building relationships and having the opportunity to make positive changes in the lives of his patients.
Philosophy of Care
With a friendly, enthusiastic, and collaborative approach, Dr. Markan listens to his patients and meets them where they are in their lives to help them set and reach small but achievable health goals. As a firm believer that "the good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease," he understands that empathy is the key to truly helping his patients.
Hobbies & Interests
Outside of medicine, Dr. Markan enjoys running, skiing, traveling, and volunteering. He is an avid sports fan, especially of cricket, football, and tennis. He also has a strong interest in war and real-life documentaries. Most of all, he loves spending time with his family and watching his son grow.
