5 Reasons To Choose Eyelid Surgery
An eyelid lift, also known as blepharoplasty, is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the world for its ability to dramatically improve facial aesthetics. Specifically, there are 5 reasons why someone may choose to undergo an eyelid lift.
1. You look tired, even when you’re not.
Gravity, aging’s greatest nemesis, can make your eyelids begin to droop. This, in addition to wrinkles and puffiness around the eyes, can make you look older and fatigued. In this case, an upper eyelid lift can lift your eyelids so they no longer droop, and a lower eyelid lift can smooth out wrinkles and reduce puffiness, so you can look as young as you feel.
2. You can’t see as well as you used to.
Sometimes when you begin losing your eyesight, it has little to do with your actual eyes. Your eyelids can be the culprit. When they droop, they can create lids over your eyes that reduce your peripheral vision. This can particularly cause issues when driving or reading. An upper eyelid lift can help restore your vision and your youthful appearance.
3. Your eyelid crease has disappeared.
You may be noticing that putting on eye makeup isn’t quite as easy as it used to be. Gravity has taken its toll again and your eyelid crease seems to have disappeared. In reality, your crease is just hiding under excess tissue and fat that are weighing down your eyelids. An upper eyelid lift, which pulls your eyelids up toward your forehead, can reveal your crease. In some cases, a double eyelid lift, which creates a crease and a larger, wider eye, may work best.
4. Your eyes are suffering from allergies.
Chronic allergies can make eyes chronically puffy. They can also cause dark under eye circles that never seem to go away no matter how much sleep you get. An eyelid lift can remove the puffy swelling around your eyes, as well as the dark circles. While you may still suffer from allergies, at least your eyes will no longer suffer with you.
5. You just want to do something nice for yourself.
The majority of patients who walk into my office asking about blepharoplasty are simply seeking a way to restore their confidence. A new career move, relationship, or season of life may have sparked a desire in you to look as wide-eyed and youthful as you feel. An eyelid lift can boost your confidence and give you a fresh outlook.
You may be considering getting blepharoplasty for any of these reasons — or maybe a combination of them. Whatever your reason, my cosmetic surgery team at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston can help you make an informed decision about whether an eyelid lift is the right choice for you, and which type would work best for your goals.
