Steven Capece, MD, a double-board-certified surgeon at Kelsey-Seybold, attended the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine at Galveston, Texas, earning his medical degree in 2019. After graduating, he completed the General Surgery residency program at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in 2024. Dr. Capece then returned to Texas to complete a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery in 2025 at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). He joined Kelsey-Seybold in August 2025.

Encouraged to pursue medicine by his father, Dr. Capece is a general surgeon committed to open and honest communication with his patients regardless of the procedure. He specializes in the surgical treatment of conditions of the colon and rectum, including colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, anal fistulae, and other complex anorectal disease. Dr. Capece’s favorite aspect of performing surgery and working with patients is knowing he can make a direct, positive impact on his patients.

Hobbies & Interests

When he has free time, Dr. Capece enjoys gardening and spending time with his family, including his wife and children.
