Professional Background

Sheila Rastegari, DO, is a double board-certified gastroenterologist and internist at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. She attended the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, earning her medical degree in 2017. From there, Dr. Rastegari went on to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, completing its Internal Medicine residency program in 2020. She also completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Medical City Fort Worth in 2023. Dr. Rastegari joined Kelsey-Seybold in January 2025.

Having grown up visiting the Houston Medical Center with her mother, Dr. Rastegari was in awe of the exciting research happening there and decided then to become a physician to help people in the most direct way possible. As a gastroenterologist, she helps to prevent gastrointestinal tract cancers while also treating a wide variety of conditions, including reflux, peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, and liver disease. In addition to upper endoscopies and colonoscopies, she performs ERCP for the treatment of bile duct and gallstone-related diseases. Her clinical interests include hepatic and pancreatobiliary disease prevention and outcomes improvement — and she has particular interest in optimizing the gut microbiome, known for its role in conditions such as obesity, heart disease, and cancer.

Philosophy of Care

By getting to know her patients, Dr. Rastegari makes every effort to ensure they are well-informed and comfortable with their treatment plans. Through teamwork with her patients, she provides holistic care that incorporates both medical and lifestyle interventions.

Hobbies and Interests

Dr. Rastegari loves exploring Houston’s live music scene, trying new restaurants, and interior design. If she is not spending time with family or friends, she is probably sending them silly photos or videos of her cats. She also enjoys playing the violin and played in the Fort Worth Medical Orchestra during her time in DFW.
