Education & Board Certification
Rury J. Santiago Guzman, MD, is a graduate of the American University of Antigua in Antigua and Barbuda, earning his medical degree in 2020. He then relocated to Louisiana, completing the Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Program in 2025. Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Santiago Guzman joined Kelsey-Seybold in September 2025.
Dr. Santiago Guzman had a lifelong desire to pursue medicine, having been inspired by how the physicians who treated his own parents and grandparents used their knowledge to improve lives and give people hope. He strives to provide reassuring and compassionate care to patients with a focus on them as individuals, not just as symptoms. Dr. Santiago Guzman treats a wide range of symptoms and conditions, from everyday concerns like pain, fatigue, or infections to chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma. He also strongly emphasizes preventive care, helping patients stay healthy through education, screenings, and lifestyle support. Dr. Santiago Guzman finds it incredibly rewarding to know that the care, guidance, and support he provides can help his patients through difficult moments, better manage a chronic condition, and make a real difference in their lives.
Philosophy of Care
With empathy and a focus on communication, Dr. Santiago Guzman takes time to explain things clearly, answer questions, and make sure his patients feel heard, respected, safe, and valued as a person. He partners with them in their care and medical decision-making, tailoring care based on their emotional, social, and cultural values so that they are more engaged, confident, and likely to have better outcomes.
Hobbies & Interests
In his spare time, Dr. Santiago Guzman enjoys traveling and exploring new places to learn about different cultures and take a break from the daily routine. He also considers family time to be incredibly important. When he is relaxing, he’s often having a barbecue with friends, trying new restaurants, or catching up on movies and TV shows as a way to recharge and stay connected.
