Dr. Matthew McCarley is a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand surgeon. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology and Bachelor of Arts in the Plan II Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin in 2009. He earned his medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock in 2013. Dr. McCarley completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2018, where he also served as Administrative Chief Resident for one year. He completed a Hand Surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama and Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine in 2019. Following his post-graduate training, Dr. McCarley worked as an orthopedic hand surgeon at Orthopaedic Specialists, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Louisiana. He joined Kelsey-Seybold in April 2022.

Dr. McCarley enjoys travel, hiking and biking, trying new restaurants, and interior design.
Fun Facts
The best advice Dr. McCarley has ever received is “There’s no such thing as being overprepared.”
The most interesting place he has visited is Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. “It’s a serene destination that’s truly breathtaking!”
As a child, he originally wanted to become an architect since he’s visually oriented and likes to design things. But he was later drawn to medicine after encountering the profession as a patient and looking up to the doctors who cared for him back then.
