Juan Camilo Roa Mendez, MD, studied medicine at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, earning his medical degree in 2005. After relocating to Bronx, New York, he went to Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center where he completed his Internal Medicine residency in 2013. Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Roa Mendez joined Kelsey-Seybold’s Internal Medicine department in January 2026 after more than a decade of caring for patients in primary care and hospital settings.
As a primary care physician for adults, Dr. Roa Mendez provides a broad spectrum of care, including preventive care such as well checks, immunizations, and routine screenings. He also diagnoses and treats acute medical concerns like minor injuries, colds and flu, strep throat, and other illness. Additionally, Dr. Roa Mendez works with his patients to manage chronic conditions such as high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, and more. His favorite part of being a physician is getting to know his patients.

Dr. Roa Mendez is an empathetic physician who uses an integrative approach to medicine — considering his patients’ physical, emotional, mental, and socioeconomic well-being as he tailors their care. He also prioritizes preventive medicine to help keep his patients as healthy as possible.
