Amar Arunachalam, MD, is a graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, where he earned his medical degree in 2019. He remained in Miami to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami in 2022. After relocating to Houston, Dr. Arunachalam completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) in 2024. Fluent in English and Spanish, he joined Kelsey-Seybold’s Endocrinology department in December 2025.
Dr. Arunachalam follows in the footsteps of both his parents — in particular, his mother, an endocrinologist who showed her son how compassionate care can make a difference in the lives of others. Patients see Dr. Arunachalam for a wide variety of endocrine issues, including diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, and PCOS, as well as less-common conditions. His clinical interests also include diabetes technology and how it may be used to help patients better manage their conditions. Dr. Arunachalam’s favorite aspect of practicing medicine is how gratifying it is to learn about so many unique, interesting people and to help to improve their health.
Philosophy of Care
With a profound respect for how the endocrine system plays such a large role in the daily lives of his patients, Dr. Arunachalam treats each patient as an individual, taking the time to get to know them so that he can best address their unique health needs.
Hobbies & Interests
Outside of medicine, Dr. Arunachalam enjoys playing tennis and basketball, watching movies, and spending time with his golden retriever.
