Sana Kausar Shamji-Mukhi, DO, earned her medical degree at Nova Southeastern University – Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine in Davie, Florida, in 2016. She then completed her internship and Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida, in 2019, followed by a Geriatrics fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, in 2020. Trilingual in English, Gujarati, and Hindi, Dr. Shamji-Mukhi is triple-board certified in Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Obesity Medicine. She joined Kelsey-Seybold in January 2026.
Dr. Shamji-Mukhi pursued medicine at the encouragement of her sister, who is also a doctor. As a primary care physician for adult patients, Dr. Shamji-Mukhi provides comprehensive care ranging from annual physicals and preventive screenings to the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, and high cholesterol. She also helps patients navigate concerns like fatigue, weight changes, mood or sleep issues, and women’s health issues, including perimenopause and hormone-related changes. Seeing her patients’ medical needs as complex puzzles, Dr. Shamji-Mukhi enjoys the challenge of putting all the pieces together — their histories, symptoms, labs, and exam findings — to make diagnoses, help patients understand their conditions, and create plans for better health.
Philosophy of Care
Before focusing on lab results or diagnoses, Dr. Shamji-Mukhi listens and ensures she understands what her patients are feeling and what matters most to them. She practices root-cause care that strives to uncover the "why" behind symptoms instead of treating just the symptoms. With a whole-person approach, she also takes into account her patients’ social and emotional well-being while using education to empower and guide them toward better health results.
Hobbies & Interests
In her free time, Dr. Shamji-Mukhi enjoys reading fiction, skiing, and traveling with friends and family.
