Nneka Anyanwu, MD, MHS, is a graduate of Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine in 2022. She went on to complete her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine in 2026. Board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Anyanwu joined Kelsey-Seybold in August 2026.

Dr. Anyanwu’s inspiration to become a physician began with her older brother, who has cerebral palsy, and with her own experiences undergoing multiple spinal surgeries for scoliosis as a child. She saw firsthand how compassionate physicians can restore hope, improve function, and transform lives. In the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Anyanwu sees patients for the evaluation and treatment of conditions that affect movement, function, and quality of life. These include musculoskeletal pain, sports injuries, spine disorders, nerve and muscle conditions, spasticity, weakness, mobility limitations, and disabilities resulting from neurologic injuries or diseases such as stroke, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury. Dr. Anyanwu has a special interest in caring for adolescents and adults with childhood-onset neurologic and developmental disabilities, including cerebral palsy and spina bifida — and in electrodiagnostic medicine, amputee rehabilitation, and evidence-based rehabilitation. She is passionate about helping patients successfully transition from pediatric to adult rehabilitation care while addressing their changing medical and functional needs throughout adulthood. Dr. Anyanwu also loves seeing patients regain abilities they thought they had lost — whether it’s returning to work, walking without pain, participating in sports again, or simply being able to enjoy time with family — and celebrating those wins with her patients.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Anyanwu’s philosophy is simple: treat the whole person, not just the diagnosis. That is why she listens to and collaborates with her patients to identify the underlying causes of each patient’s condition while developing a personalized, evidence-based treatment plan that aligns with their goals and lifestyle. She focuses on showing compassion, listening intently, and explaining diagnoses and treatment options clearly to help each patient feel empowered and comfortable asking questions.
