M. David Albers, MD, attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, earning his medical degree in 2013. After graduating, he relocated from San Antonio to Louisville, Kentucky, completing his General Surgery residency in 2018 at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Albers joined Kelsey-Seybold in July 2025 as a board-certified general surgeon.

As a surgeon with a deep interest in the history and origins of the science of modern surgery, Dr. Albers is committed to excellence in surgical technique with the goal of excellent outcomes. He performs a wide range of procedures, including those for the gallbladder, hernias, small bowel, diverticular disease, breast, and more. Dr. Albers specializes in both general and laparoscopic surgery. What he finds most rewarding about performing surgery is how it enables him to play a role in relieving the suffering of his patients.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Albers understands how important it is that his patients know he is honest and capable as their surgeon. That is why he communicates openly with them, providing his advice, sharing his expertise, and then engaging his patients in shared decision making. Dr. Albers abides by the principle “Do no harm” in every patient interaction.

Hobbies & Interests

When he’s not performing surgery, Dr. Albers most enjoys being a husband and father of five children. He also keeps busy with woodworking, beekeeping, and gardening with and learning about native plants.
