Madeline Clark, MD, attended McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2019. She went on to Baylor College of Medicine to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2023. Dr. Clark joined Kelsey-Seybold in September 2023.

The daughter of a physician and a nurse, Dr. Clark grew up grew up nurturing an interest in science and a desire to help others. Passionate about women’s health, she provides care across the OB/GYN spectrum, including well woman exams and preventive care, prenatal care and delivery, and diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic issues such as cervical cancer, ovarian cysts, urinary tract infections, and more. She is also certified in laparoscopic procedures. Dr. Clark’s favorite part of practicing medicine is building relationships with her patients and having the opportunity to be involved in her patients’ most exciting moments.

Research

MD Anderson Cancer Center – Medical Student Researcher with Dr. Jacqueline Parchem, Identification of fetal DNA in maternal exosomes, December 2018 – January 2019.

  • Collaborated with a team to identify exosome isolation and lysing techniques of cell free DNA to study exosome significance in pregnancy and pre-eclampsia
  • Spearheaded the implementation of a new protocol to verify exosome isolation and lysing techniques resulting in the increased efficiency of exome examination and analysis
  • Had responsibility to maintain and split several human cell cultures used to harvest exosomes

Baylor College of Medicine – Medical Student Researcher with Dr. Kristy Murray, Mesoamerican Nephropathy, May 2016 – August 2016.

  • In a select group of individuals chosen to investigate and analyze results to elucidate source of nephropathy within Mesoamerica
  • Developed and maintained a master database that was used as a single source of information for analysis
  • Collected and sorted urine and blood samples and tested for Zika, Chikungunya, Dengue, and glyphosate

The University of Texas at Austin – Undergraduate Researcher in Dr. Hongjoo Lee’s lab, Effects of Methylene Blue on rat Parkinson’s Model, Summer 2013 – May 2015.

  • Awarded an Undergraduate Research Fellowship in which I received funding to pursue my own project
  • Developed the testing protocol to determine the effects of methylene blue on behavioral aspects of Parkinson’s Disease through a rat model of disease
  • Perfused rats, mounted brain slices, and performed Nissl staining techniques to examine the substantia nigra under microscope

Baylor College of Medicine – Paid Student Assistant in Dr. Anne Anderson’s lab, Effects of Rapamycin on Mouse Epilepsy Model, May 2011 – August 2012.

  • Participated in meetings with postdocs and graduate students to discuss the effects of mTORC1 inhibitor, Rapamycin, on the Pten mutant mice
  • Developed skills to perform Western blot and immunohistochemistry for identification of up regulation of signaling pathways (mTOR)
