John George, MD, MBA, FAAP, earned his medical degree at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock in 2018. He then completed his Pediatrics residency at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) in Houston, in 2022, serving as chief resident his final year. Dr. George also holds a Master of Business Administration in health organization management from Texas Tech University. Trilingual in English, Malayalam, and Spanish, Dr. George joined Kelsey-Seybold in December 2021 as a board-certified pediatrician.
Originally drawn to the field by his own childhood physicians, Dr. George’s passion for Pediatrics was deepened by his experiences in helping his brother learn to thrive with asthma. As a pediatrician, Dr. George cares for young patients from newborns through age 21, focusing on preventive care, such as physicals and routine exams, along with care for acute conditions such as minor injuries and illness. In addition to providing management of chronic conditions like asthma, obesity, and more, he has a particular interest in autism evaluation and ADHD medication management. Dr. George’s favorite aspect of practicing medicine is making patients and families feel well taken care of by serving as an attentive partner they can rely on for comfort and care.
In his free time, he enjoys a variety of activities that help him balance both work and family life. He is a proud husband to his wife and a father to two wonderful sons, and spending time with them is always a priority. Professionally, he holds a faculty position at the Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine, where he finds great fulfillment in teaching and mentoring the next generation of engineers and medical professionals. Outside of his career, he actively volunteers at his local Catholic church, giving back to his community. He’s also a huge sports fan, and he absolutely loves rooting for his hometown teams—the Houston Rockets, Houston Astros, and Houston Texans as well as his alma mater, the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Philosophy of Care
With a focus on evidence-based, patient-centered care, Dr. George strives to foster better outcomes and build trust by making medicine easier to understand. He also seeks out input from patients and their families, openly discussing treatment goals and expectations to create a collaborative care environment.
