Steven White: Coordinated Care in Action

"I think if my doctors were not really working together, the impact would be a lot more stress and time wasted."
- Steven White

"I've been a patient with Kelsey since 1999, which makes it what, 26 years. The doctor I have now is the same doctor I had the first time I came to Kelsey... Recently when I went for the Orthopedics they check your blood pressure, and I was off the charts. I went down and saw my doctor, and we changed my medication plan as a result of that. Having my Orthopedic and Primary Care in the same building, everything was taken care of in an hour or so. I think with Kelsey for seniors the benefit is you don't have to go all across town to get your treatment because you can see all the doctors and specialties there. They respond quickly, and you never feel rushed."

Coordinated Care in Action

Steven has been a Kelsey-Seybold patient since 1999. Over more than two decades, one thing has stayed constant: he’s never felt like just another name on a chart.

From the beginning, Steven built a long-term relationship with his primary care physician, one he still sees today. Having the same doctor year after year meant someone truly knew his history, his baseline, and what “normal” looked like for him.

During an orthopedic visit for a shoulder issue, his blood pressure was suddenly alarmingly high. Instead of sending him home or telling him to call his primary care doctor later, the orthopedic team immediately reached out, downstairs, to his PCP. Within the same visit, Steven was seen, evaluated, and prescribed an adjustment to his medications.

“It all happened in the same day,” Steven recalls. No extra appointments across town. No delays. No guessing who was responsible for next steps.

Technology extended that coordination even further. Using the MyKelseyOnline app, Steven tracked his blood pressure from home, allowing his doctor to monitor changes in real time. What could have meant weekly office visits instead became a few digital check-ins, saving time, reducing stress, and keeping his care proactive instead of reactive.

For Steven, coordinated care isn’t about flashy moments or dramatic interventions. It’s about doctors who communicate, systems that connect, and care that fits into real life. As he puts it, if his doctors weren’t working together, it wouldn’t just mean more appointments; it would mean more stress, more wasted time, and more burden placed on him.

After more than 25 years, Steven hasn’t looked for an alternative. He doesn’t need to. At Kelsey-Seybold, his care feels well cared for by a team of experts, exactly the way healthcare should be.
