Patients with serious and chronic illnesses may live longer and enjoy a higher quality of life during and after treatment by the Kelsey-Seybold Palliative Care team. The team works together with a patient's other doctors to help provide comprehensive care. Palliative care can be provided at any stage of illness, even if a cure is likely.
Dr. Debra Gummelt is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with added certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She sees patients at The Woodlands Clinic and our North Houston Campus.
Dr. Gummelt earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth in 1995 and completed the Family Practice Residency Program at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Conroe, Texas, in 1998. Prior to joining Kelsey-Seybold, Dr. Gummelt served as a chief medical officer at Harbor Hospice in Houston, Texas. She’s a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
