Mary Philips, MD, attended the International American University College of Medicine in St. Lucia, West Indies, graduating with her medical degree in 2011. From there, she went on to Utica, New York, to complete the St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency program in 2016. Bilingual in English and Malayalam, Dr. Philips joined Kelsey-Seybold as a board-certified hospitalist with nearly a decade of experience in patient care within acute and post-acute care settings.
Dr. Philips pursued a career as a physician with encouragement from her father, who deeply believed in her. As a hospitalist, she treats adult patients who are admitted to the hospital for a wide variety of acute conditions and complications from chronic conditions. This includes stroke, heart failure, diabetes, and more. Dr. Philips’ favorite part of her work with patients is when they feel better and can be safely discharged from the hospital.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Philips treats her patients with respect, compassion, and kindness, giving them time to voice their questions and concerns. From there, she approaches patient care as a conversation, making her recommendations and ensuring her patients have all the information needed to facilitate decision making for the best care.
Hobbies & Interests
Outside of medicine, Dr. Philips loves spending time with her four children. She also enjoys gardening and is an avid reader of both new and old books.
