Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Earns Highest Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation Status
Houston (March 1, 2010) – The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) has re-accredited Kelsey-Seybold Clinic for a three-year term, the highest status granted by the premier accreditor for ambulatory, or outpatient, health care organizations. The award followed an intensive quality inspection of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic that assessed compliance with national best practice standards.
Accreditation is a voluntary process involving self-assessment by an organization as well as a thorough review by the AAAHC's expert surveyors, who are themselves, ambulatory healthcare professionals.
"Accreditation underscores Kelsey-Seybold's longstanding commitment to providing the highest possible levels of quality care to our patients," said Patrick Carter, M.D., M.B.A., Chief of the Department of Family Medicine and Medical Director for Care Coordination and Quality Improvement at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. "We are proud to have the AAAHC recognize our efforts, which reflects our ability to coordinate care across many medical specialties and the dedication of our staff members who are committed to providing quality patient care."
The AAAHC commended Kelsey-Seybold for demonstrating a high level of safe, state-of the-art medical care and noted in the survey results, "The organization is extremely complex but runs smoothly. The use of technology has made communication effective. The level of experience and dedication to quality has raised the bar to a very high level. The staff members were very pleased and happy to work for the organization. This is an organization to be proud of."
Founded in 1979, the AAAHC is regarded as the leader in ambulatory healthcare accreditation and currently accredits more than 4,500 organizations nationwide.
