Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and Turner College and Career High School Announce Partnership

Houston (October 22, 2013) – Kelsey-Seybold Clinic has partnered with Pearland Independent School District's Turner College and Career High School – a school which offers students the opportunity to earn a high school diploma while also engaging in classes that could lead to a professional certification or associate degree – and will provide equipment and ongoing internship opportunities to students.

"Kelsey-Seybold has seen tremendous growth in the Pearland community in the last year – we recently opened our new administrative building here and have just opened our beautiful new Pearland Clinic," said John Lyle, Vice President of Operations at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. "Our continued growth depends on the vitality of this city and a strong education system is the backbone of any great community – this is why our commitment to Turner College and Career High School is so important to us."

In July, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic donated medical equipment to Turner CCHS, which has a market value of approximately $18,000. The donation helped establish the onsite clinical aspect of the Turner CCHS programming.

It is expected that in the 2013-14 school year, Turner CCHS will have approximately 130 students who will go through clinical rotations, practicums and internships in surrounding medical facilities. Kelsey-Seybold is proud to partner with Turner CCHS to provide relevant healthcare experiences for students.

"Turner College and Career High School aims to develop a program unlike any other high school in the region, offering students the opportunity to acquire a high school diploma and the certification and training needed to begin a career in the medical field upon graduation," Dr. Jennifer Morrow, Turner CCHS principal, said. "In partnering with Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, we are helping ensure that our students receive the practical medical experience desired to enter the medical field."

The Northern Brazoria Education Alliance (NBCEA), a non-profit 501(c) (3) corporation and regional workforce development alliance, introduced Dr. Jennifer Morrow, Principal of Turner CCHS, to Kelsey-Seybold representatives.

"The partnership between Kelsey Seybold and Turner CCHS exemplifies the business and education communities coming together to provide the resources needed to build a solid talent pool to meet the community workforce needs", said Terrie Morgan, Executive Director of the NBCEA
