Houston (July 30, 2003) – Humana announced today the signing of an agreement with Houston’s largest community-based physician group, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, to provide health care services to individuals and families participating in Humana’s health maintenance organization (HMO) and self-funded health insurance programs.

Under the agreement, effective September 1, 2003, members of Humana’s HMO plans in addition to Humana’s preferred provider organization (PPO) plan will now have access to more than 300 Kelsey-Seybold physicians at more than 20 clinic locations throughout the Houston area. Kelsey-Seybold Clinic offers locations in Downtown Houston, near the Medical Center and in the Galleria area, as well as Humble, Kingwood, the Woodlands, Spring, Northwest Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, Missouri City, Pearland, Pasadena and Clear Lake.

We continue to fulfill our commitment to provide Humana’s members and employers in the business community with a wide choice of primary care and specialty physicians in the Houston area,” said Ken Janda, president of Humana of Houston. “By increasing physicians and clinic locations, many members will benefit from the convenience of having their personal physician close to their home or office.”

“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with Kelsey-Seybold and, more importantly, to have such respected physicians available to our HMO members.”

Humana serves 190,000 members in the Houston area. Besides its HMO, PPO and self-insured plans, the company offers consumer-driven health plans, individual health service products, and dental, short-term disability and long-term disability insurance.

“We are very pleased to welcome these individuals and families who can now access our physicians and services through their participation in Humana’s HMO and self-funded insurance plans,” says Spencer R. Berthelsen, M.D., Board Chairman of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and a practicing internal medicine physician. “We look forward to making the Kelsey-Seybold tradition of quality and convenience available to more Humana plan participants.”
