Professional Background

Canh-Lien graduated with a Masters of Public Health in 2012 from The University of Texas School of Public Health. Her major was in Community Health Practice concentrating in Health Disparities. Her undergraduate degree in Nutrition is from the University of Houston. Canh-Lien has worked as a registered dietitian in Houston for over 10 years, mainly in community hospitals serving low socioeconomic status and elderly populations. She’s bilingual in English and Vietnamese. She was born in Vietnam, but has been living in Houston since age 3.

Hobbies and Interests

Canh-Lien’s personal interests include home gardening, supporting locally sourced foods, feeding the homeless, and ending childhood hunger.

Fun Facts

Canh-Lien traveled to French Polynesia with her husband and swam with humpback whales. A lot of people may not know she was a disc jockey for KTRU radio at Rice University from 2001-2006. As a young girl, Canh-Lien wanted to be an astronaut and dreamed about someday living on Mars. She’s always been fascinated by sustaining life in another world.

​My role is not only to teach patients about what nutritious foods to eat, but also to help them manage weight and help prevent or manage chronic diseases with motivation techniques, food-behavior changes, coping skills and physical activity.
