Dr. Benjamin Mwanika is a Family Medicine and Sports Medicine physician at Kelsey-Seybold in the Orthopedics department. In 2003, he received his Bachelor of Science in exercise science/athletic training at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. He went on to complete his Master of Arts in sports science and pedagogy in 2005 at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. In 2009, he completed his medical degree at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine/Virginia Tech. He completed his Family Medicine residency at WW Knight/The Toledo Hospital Family Medicine Residency in Ohio in 2012. In addition, he completed his sports medicine fellowship at Sports Care/University of Toledo in 2013.
Double board certified in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine, Dr. Mwanika treats patients of all ages for a variety of ailments. He provides care for sports and musculoskeletal injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers, hips, knees, ankle, and feet. His clinical interests include treating sports injuries and stress/overuse injuries.
When not in clinic, Dr. Mwanika also works as a travel physician with the US Ski and Snowboarding teams. He has been traveling with the teams for domestic and international competitions since 2016.
