Meet Your Nurse Navigator: Ashlyn Sorensen

As your Nurse Navigator, I’m here to help you navigate the healthcare system and your health benefits so you can better care for yourself and your family. I’ve dedicated my career to making sure patients get the time, attention, and care they deserve.

Prior to becoming a nurse, I served as a customer service associate at The University of Texas Medical Branch League City where I became well acquainted with the administrative side of healthcare. As your Nurse Navigator, I have the opportunity to combine my skills to provide you with a point of contact to help you make informed decisions about health and wellness.

I look forward to getting to know you! In the meantime, here are some “fun facts’ about me:

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

My Mom has always told me, “You can accomplish absolutely anything; you just have to want it badly enough.”

Where was the most exotic/interesting place you have lived/visited?

During my childhood, I lived in Singapore for a few years. During that time, we visited neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia. Some of my favorite memories of Singapore include the food, abundant greenery within the city, and their zoo.

What’s something that people may not know about you?

I grew up riding four-wheelers and dirt bikes.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is eating dessert after every meal.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to become a nurse and care for others.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my husband, children and our dog, Maggie Mae. And a fun fact about me is that my favorite food is anything Italian or Mexican.
