MKO Milestone

Kelsey-Seybold patients can easily schedule appointments, view test results and email their doctor's office 24/7

Houston (May 30, 2012) – Kelsey-Seybold Clinic's web-based patient portal, MyKelseyOnline has reached a notable milestone, signing its 150,000th member this week. Launched in May 2009, MyKelseyOnline has become an important communication tool for Kelsey-Seybold doctors and their patients.

"Like many web-based solutions, it's hard to remember what it was like to interact with patients before we had MyKelseyOnline," said Dr. Robert Turner, Co-Managing Physician for Clinical Information Technology at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. "In three years, MyKelseyOnline has become an indispensible tool for our patients and doctors to communicate with each other more effectively. Reaching this milestone shows that the dynamic between the doctor and patient is evolving – and how Kelsey-Seybold is transforming."

Kelsey-Seybold continues to expand and enhance MyKelseyOnline features. This milestone also follows the implementation of MyKelseyOnline applications for Android and Apple devices in the June 2011.

The online tool allows patients to:

Email their doctor's office from a computer or mobile device

Make appointments with Kelsey-Seybold primary care physicians and specialists

View their health summary, current medications and most lab and test results

Request prescription refills from the Kelsey Pharmacy

Request updates to insurance and personal information

Pay bills online

"When we implemented MyKelseyOnline, we knew that it was a starting point for a much more interactive patient platform," said Philip Price, Ph.D. Vice President of Information Systems for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. "MyKelseyOnline has enhanced relationships between patients and our physicians by offering a new, convenient and secure method of communication and information exchange".

This milestone coincides with a limited phase one pilot of a new "E-Visit" service for select patients who are enrolled in MyKelseyOnline. E-Visits are a convenient and secure way for patients to consult with physicians and receive treatment plans for certain health related problems through the MyKelseyOnline email exchange.

Kelsey-Seybold patients can sign up for the patient portal by going to www.mykelseyonline.com.

While MyKelseyOnline facilitates convenient communication between patients and physicians, it should not be used for urgent health care issues. In such cases, a patient should call his or her physician's office or 9-1-1.
