Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Names Craig A. Vollmers Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer

Houston (October 11, 2017) – Kelsey-Seybold Clinic is pleased to announce that after a national search, Craig A. Vollmers has joined the Human Resources Department as vice president and chief human resources officer. Vollmers comes to Kelsey-Seybold with nearly 20 years of management and executive-level Human Resources experience, most recently as Director of HR Talent Acquisition and Healthcare Systems Staffing at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. There, Vollmers oversaw Human Resources for UTMB Healthcare Systems (HCSS) and UTMB Human Resource Talent Acquisition with a staff of 40 individuals. In the three years that he served as director, Vollmers managed the sourcing and hiring of more than 3,500 placements annually, reduced the nurse vacancy rate to 5 percent and deployed a payroll software system for HCSS resulting in more than $100,000 savings annually.

Prior to his role as director, Vollmers served as Manager of Talent Acquisition and Recruitment at UTMB where he oversaw a $2.5 million department budget and managed a staff of 18 individuals.

Vollmers has held several executive-level Human Resources positions in Houston and the surrounding area including vice president of Human Resources for Revenew International, a cost recovery and cost containment services consulting company; Manager and Director-level positions with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and UTHealth Houston (respectively); as well as vice president of Nurse Recruitment and Staffing for HCR ManorCare / Richards Healthcare, a leading provider of short-term, post-hospital services and long-term care.

“Mr. Vollmers joins Kelsey-Seybold after a long career dedicated to creating efficiencies, improving transparency and attracting the very best personnel,” said Tony Lin, M.D., F.H.M., chairman and managing director of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. “We believe that through his leadership, Kelsey-Seybold will be well positioned to face the transitional time ahead as baby boomers continue to exit the workforce and millennials move into management and executive-level positions.”

Mr. Vollmers has lived in Houston since 1989, but is originally from St. Paul, MN. He attended the University of Houston and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television Journalism. His professional career began a year before he graduated, reporting for KUHF 88.7 – FM, the National Public Radio affiliate in Houston. He would later pursue a career in marketing, taking the helm as vice president of Marketing & Development at HCR – ManorCare / Richards Healthcare. His experience in marketing helped catapult his career in HR when he was asked to lead ManorCare / Richards Healthcare’s nurse recruitment and staffing division. Mr. Vollmers lives in The Heights with his wife and three children and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Leadership Development at Western Governor’s University.
