Professional Background

After earning her medical degree in 1982 from The University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston and completing her Pediatrics internship at the University of Kentucky in 1983, she returned for her residency at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston, finishing in 1985. Dr. Mouzoon speaks Spanish and Farsi. Dr. Mouzoon is the managing physician for immunization practices.

Professional Associations

Dr. Mouzoon is a member of the Texas Pediatric Society, Houston Pediatric Association, International Society for Travel Medicine, The Immunization Partnership and the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Breastfeeding. She's also a fellow of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.

Hobbies and Interests

Dr. Mouzoon is married with two grown children and says "My nuclear and extended family is very diverse and I volunteer with organizations that promote the unity of mankind, such as the Center for the Healing of Racism and the Baha'i Community." She also enjoys gardening, sewing, tutoring adult study groups and teaching children's classes.

I am privileged to work with newborns and to have the opportunity to help in the transition from "couple" to "family." I am a great advocate of supporting new moms in achieving successful breastfeeding and in helping new dads to become involved in the care and emotional support of their children. I believe that every baby deserves exceptional care and attention and I make my medical decisions very conservatively. Because I don't follow newborns once they leave the hospital, it is important to me that there are no unresolved issues and that the family is well-informed and able to care for the baby at discharge.
