Hannah Atkinson

2024- Texas A&M University, MHA

Background: Hannah Atkinson is from the small town of Plantersville, TX. She is a proud double graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and a Master of Health Administration. Hannah's journey in healthcare began at St. Joseph's Regional Hospital in Bryan, TX, where she served as a Patient Care Technician in the Float Pool. Here, she gained invaluable experience in patient care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Transitioning to an Administrative Assistant role at the Brazos Health Resource Center within St. Joseph’s Health, Hannah worked to support the uninsured population through various population health initiatives. Prior to beginning her fellowship, Hannah completed an Administrative Internship with Houston Methodist Accountable Care Organization, which sparked her interests for coordinated care. Hannah most recently worked as a graduate Research Assistant with Texas A&M School of Public Health investigating consumer access within the insurance marketplace.

Lauren Schrock

2024 - Texas A&M University, MHA

Background: Lauren Schrock, a Houston, Texas native, recently graduated with a Master of Health Administration degree from Texas A&M University after completing her bachelor's degree at The University of Texas at Austin. During her undergraduate years, Lauren embarked on her healthcare journey, contributing to organizations such as The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Cerebral Palsy Transition Awareness Hope, and The ARC of the Capital Area. Simultaneously she gained extensive patient experience through various clinical dental settings over several years. In graduate school, Lauren worked as an Administrative Intern at Houston Methodist: Accountable Care Organization, where she orchestrated a Post-Acute Re-admission project aimed at improving utilization rates. She also worked as a project manager for an insurance consumer access research project at the Texas A&M School of Public Health, influencing national healthcare policy reform. Furthering her experience, Lauren interned as a Global Public Health Intern with Austin Smiles: The Austin Plastic Surgery Foundation, leading non-profit initiatives to provide oral plastic surgeries in Central Texas and Latin America.

Makenzi Urbanczyk

2024 – Texas Woman’s University, MHA, MBA

Background: Makenzi is a native Texan who received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Texas A&M University. Following her undergraduate degree, she worked as a medical assistant for a CHI St. Joseph Central Texas ENT in College Station before pursuing two Master degrees in Houston, Texas. She graduated with her Master in Health Administration and Master in Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University. Prior to this fellowship, Makenzi was a graduate administrative intern at Houston Methodist. In her role, she implemented evidence-based data to improve the outcome measures of the stroke population. In addition, she was a business operations intern at Texas Children’s Hospital where she worked on various projects including space utilization for multiple department specialties, created a KPI dashboard for the Department of Neonatology, and researching data on various vPHPs/vIOPs .

Ceona James

Current Position: Project Manager - Patient Access/Contact Center

Fellowship Experience: Kelsey-Seybold Clinic's Administrative Fellowship Program allowed me to engage in various initiatives and strategic planning efforts, giving me a comprehensive understanding of the organization from the lens of executive leadership. From day-to-day operations to high-level projects, I gained insights into what it takes for an organization to run successfully and what it means to be an effective leader. I learned that the most important measure of success is how our changes positively impact patient experience and expand access to care. The fellowship also emphasized the importance of critical thinking in solving complex problems, enabling me to make informed decisions that drive meaningful improvements. I am profoundly grateful for the incredible leaders, including our executive sponsors, mentors, preceptors, and alumni, for their wisdom, support, and collaboration throughout this journey. Their guidance has been invaluable in shaping my professional growth and leadership skills.

Fellowship Experience: My experience in Kelsey-Seybold's Administrative Fellowship Program was truly transformative. During my tenure, I had the privilege to actively engage in and contribute to impactful organizational initiatives, gaining invaluable insights into the intricacies of high-level operations. Rotating alongside exemplary healthcare leaders, I immersed myself in the principles of value-based care, witnessing firsthand how these principles are implemented to optimize patient outcomes. At Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, I learned to appreciate the intricacies of delivering healthcare services with a focus on quality, efficiency, and patient-centeredness. Fellowship Experience:Kelsey-Seybold Clinic’s Administrative Fellowship Program provided me with a robust experience to not only work alongside various accomplished healthcare leaders but learn from them as well. As an administrative fellow I was fortunate to participate in a multitude of projects and initiatives and serve as a contributor to aid in the organization’s mission to provide quality and coordinated care for the patient population. I am extremely thankful for the exposure I gained throughout my fellowship experience as it allowed me to develop my skills in critical thinking, process improvement, and leadership. Fellowship Experience: As a KSC Fellow, you will be exposed to and involved in high-level management projects that actually carry meaning behind them. Fellowship Experience: The Kelsey-Seybold Fellowship was instrumental in launching my career in Health Care. It provided me the opportunity to work on a variety of projects while learning from business and clinical leaders across the company. The breadth of the organization allowed me to experience several areas of HealthCare - from Clinic Operations to the Central Billing Office, and from Managed Care/Contracting & Payor Relations to Accounting/Finance. For a large organization, Kelsey has a unique entrepreneurial culture and can provide a broad and rich learning environment for a recent graduate. 18 years later and still with Kelsey-Seybold, I look forward to helping the next Administrative Fellow at Kelsey-Seybold get the most out of their Fellowship.”

Current Position: Vice President, Finance, Administration and Managed Care - The Methodist Hospital System

Fellowship Experience: The Kelsey-Seybold fellowship provided me with the opportunity to understand what elements are needed to lead a large multi-specialty group practice. The fellowship structure of observing meetings and working on dedicated projects allowed me the best level of exposure I could ask for. I was able to learn from the C-suite what was taking place strategically and had the opportunity to spend time in the clinics working on projects.
