Current Administrative Fellows

Ceona James

2023 - University of South Florida, MHA

Background: Ceona James is a Tampa native who recently graduated from the University of South Florida with her Master of Health Administration. She previously received her bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration from the University of Central Florida. During her undergraduate years, Ceona started her healthcare journey with CVS Pharmacy, home health, and long-term care. During her graduate years, she also worked with Advent Health as a consumer access specialist in the emergency department and the Tampa Neuropsychiatry as a patient care coordinator. Working in these roles allowed her to grasp the importance of patient satisfaction and coordination, improving organizational and patient outcomes. In her past summer internship at Broward Health, Ceona worked with the Organizational Excellence team and partook in numerous process improvement projects. Some of these projects included improving inpatient bed assignment accuracy and medication reconciliation and streamlining the ambulatory pre-visit planning processes. Her participation in process mapping, root causes analyses, and Kaizen events enabled her to understand the significance of change within an organization.

Eric Muñoz

2023 – Texas A&M School of Public Health, MHA

Background: Eric Muñoz is a proud double graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and a Master of Health Administration. Eric is originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela, grew up in Miami, Florida and moved to The Woodlands, Texas and has been in Texas ever since. Prior to beginning his fellowship, Eric has had experience as an administrative operations intern at St. Luke's Health; focusing on process improvement and patient experience at the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. During his time at Texas A&M, Eric spearheaded and led Texas A&M's freshmen orientation program as the Head Director, managing over 1,000 active members and handling a budget of $1.5 million. Eric also worked for almost 5 years at the Texas A&M School of Public Health as a Student Assistant and then as a Graduate Assistant and was able to be involved in several projects, including the COVID-19 Texas Taskforce, rural population health research, along with program coordinating and recruitment for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs the School of Public Health.

Hendrick Utile

2023 - University of South Florida, MHA

Background: Hendrick is a native Floridian who received his undergraduate degree in Health Sciences with a focus on Health Administration from the University of South Florida. In addition, Hendrick has also obtained his MBA degree from Saint Leo University. Prior to this fellowship, Hendrick worked as an associate registration consultant at Oracle Cerner. In this role, he provided aid to various clients by delivering consulting services throughout the installation and implementation of the EHR software. Prior to this role, Hendrick spent his time completing his administrative internship at Mayo Clinic of Florida. In this role, he worked on various projects including the implementation of organ procurement donor care unit to maximize the rate and efficiency of organ procurement throughout the northern region of Florida, which serves to reduce the number of patients in need of organs throughout the nation. In addition, Hendrick also has extensive knowledge and experience within patient access as he spent the majority of his employment history serving patients within his local community at organizations such as Advent Health Tampa and Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

Raven Bennett

Fellowship Experience: “The opportunity afforded to me by Kelsey-Seybold Clinic has been greatly beneficial and insightful in so many different ways. For one, having the opportunity to observe and work with a variety of different leaders and individuals across the organization has allowed me the hone in on certain characteristics, such as developing perspective and influencing change. Additionally, being exposed to different projects and initiatives at various levels of the organization has given me the ability to showcase and further develop my skills as it relates to critical thinking, project management, and process improvement. Christopher Johnson

Fellowship Experience: As a KSC Fellow, you will be exposed to and involved in high-level management projects that actually carry meaning behind them. You will be working with successful members of the senior leadership team who are not only there to provide you with an education but to also support you in your future endeavors. In the end, you can read all the books and work on the numerous projects in graduate school, but there truly is no better way to learn about what it takes to be in healthcare administration than with a Fellowship at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.

Ken Janis

Current Position: Chief Operating Officer - Kelsey-Seybold Clinic

Fellowship Experience: The Kelsey-Seybold Fellowship was instrumental in launching my career in Health Care. It provided me the opportunity to work on a variety of projects while learning from business and clinical leaders across the company. The breadth of the organization allowed me to experience several areas of HealthCare - from Clinic Operations to the Central Billing Office, and from Managed Care/Contracting & Payor Relations to Accounting/Finance. For a large organization, Kelsey has a unique entrepreneurial culture and can provide a broad and rich learning environment for a recent graduate. 18 years later and still with Kelsey-Seybold, I look forward to helping the next Administrative Fellow at Kelsey-Seybold get the most out of their Fellowship.”

Jeff Carr

Current Position: Vice President, Finance, Administration and Managed Care - The Methodist Hospital System

Fellowship Experience: The Kelsey-Seybold fellowship provided me with the opportunity to understand what elements are needed to lead a large multi-specialty group practice. The fellowship structure of observing meetings and working on dedicated projects allowed me the best level of exposure I could ask for. I was able to learn from the C-suite what was taking place strategically and had the opportunity to spend time in the clinics working on projects. The fellowship was extremely beneficial to my career in healthcare and provided a well-rounded learning experience.
