Choosing a Pediatrician

It’s generally recommended that you start thinking about selecting a pediatrician for your child around the sixth month of pregnancy. You may want to meet with the pediatrician prior to your baby's birth. At Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, we have both pediatricians and pediatric hospitalists on staff. Hospitalists are medical doctors who specialize in the care of infants, children, and adolescents during hospital stays.

Check your pediatrician's education and credentials. All Kelsey-Seybold pediatricians have completed a medical degree at an accredited university and are licensed by the Texas Board of Medical Examiners. Most are board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, meaning they have extensive experience, have passed a rigorous test, and have met higher professional qualifications. Many serve as faculty members at Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic has pediatric hospitalists on staff who are medical doctors that specialize in the care of hospitalized patients. If you are referred to a Kelsey-Seybold hospitalist, they’ll be there for you and your family, coordinating in-hospital care while your primary care physician or pediatrician provides follow-up care after your child's discharge from the hospital.

At Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, registered nurses are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide advice on routine, urgent, and emergency medical conditions and to help decide the best course of action for your child’s medical needs.
