Kelsey-Seybold Coumadin Clinic
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic offers a Coumadin Clinic to patients taking the anticoagulant, or blood thinner, medication Coumadin® (also known as Warfarin). Coumadin is used to help treat or prevent conditions such as:
- Atrial fibrillation
- Blood clots
- Deep venous thrombosis (DVT)
- Mechanical heart valve clots
- Pulmonary embolism
Because Coumadin thins the blood, taking too much of it may cause excessive bleeding, so use should be monitored. It's important for patients taking Coumadin to get regular and timely blood tests to ensure that the effect of the blood thinner remains in the desired range.
For more information about the use of anticoagulant medication or our Coumadin Clinic, talk to your Kelsey-Seybold cardiologist.
