Kelsey-Seybold is Bringing Highly Coordinated Care to More Communities

I’m excited to tell you Kelsey-Seybold is growing, bringing highly-coordinated care to even more communities. This will usher in a new era for healthcare in Greater Houston, as we plan to nearly triple our footprint across the area by 2026.

This expansion will increase our overall number of clinics and physicians, as well as expand our reach to new communities. Our goal is for 95% of households across Greater Houston to be a 15-minute drive or less away from Kelsey-Seybold location.

Our growth isn’t just about adding more buildings in more places. It’s about offering more physicians and more specialized services closer to where our patients live and work. This is a major step forward for our value-based, coordinated care model, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’re doing for our community.

Is Ozempic for Weight Loss?

Ozempic, a Type 2 diabetes treatment, has recently been a hot topic, trending in the news and on social media because of people using it to spur dramatic weight loss.

Cherice Conley-Harvey, M.D., Medical Director of Care Coordination and Quality Improvement, knows weight loss is a difficult and sought after goal, but she emphasizes that Kelsey-Seybold physicians follow best practices by only prescribing Ozempic for Type 2 diabetes treatment.

“When you hear about people using Ozempic and losing weight, it’s understandable to want to use it for that. However, it’s FDA-approved for Type 2 diabetes treatment, not for those only looking to lose weight.

She stresses that there are many other effective, evidence-based solutions available to those who want to lose weight, from diet and exercise to bariatric surgery. Patients interested in losing weight should speak to their Kelsey-Seybold physician about what the best options are for them.
