Be Well @ Shell Kelsey-Seybold Health Plan

Nationally Accredited Treatment. Highly Personalized Care.

The Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center follows national treatment guidelines.

Our cancer program follows the most current, cancer treatment guidelines as established by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). This means our patients receive the same nationally established treatment protocols for common cancers as they would at any leading cancer center in the country.

These nationally established NCCN guidelines include:

  • Comprehensive services.
  • A multispecialty team approach.
  • State-of-the-art diagnostics and imaging.
  • Psychosocial/educational guidance.
  • Fully accredited Breast Diagnostic Center.
  • Cancer Registry with lifelong follow up.

The biggest difference our Cancer Center makes for patients is our highly personalized approach to care, which helps improve the patient experience throughout every aspect of treatment.

Three Technological Advances Allow Us to Deliver State-of-the-Art Cancer Treatment

  • Advanced Technology Before Radiation Treatment Begins – The Kelsey-Seybold Main Campus Cancer Center offers the GE Discovery IQ PET/CT simulator, which enables radiation oncologists to use information on the tumor’s location to more precisely pinpoint where radiation is needed. It also supports more complex radiation treatment planning when needed.
  • Vision RT during Radiation Therapy – Kelsey-Seybold is one of only a few healthcare organizations in Houston to offer advanced Vision RT technology. It’s a real-time motion management tool that ensures the patient is set up in the correct position before radiation therapy and tracks any movement during their treatments. It adds to patient safety by making sure our patients are positioned correctly day-in, day-out.
  • Varian TrueBeam and Varian Edge Precisely Target Cancer Cells – The Varian TrueBeam and Varian Edge safely deliver radiation at a faster dose rate than more conventional linear accelerators and minimize the daily impact on the patient’s personal schedule. The radiation beams precisely target cancerous cells while nearby healthy cells are minimally exposed. It’s ideal for treating tumors of the brain, spine, lung, abdomen, breast, prostate, head, and neck. This advanced system allows us to safely treat patients with even the most complex cancers.
