Kelsey-Seybold Earns Breast Imaging Center of Excellence Designation by American College of Radiology
ACR recognizes Radiology team's high-quality diagnostic care
Houston (August 17, 2010) – The Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Radiology department has earned the designation as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The Center of Excellence designation is awarded to imaging centers that maintain the mandatory accreditation for mammography as required by the FDA and achieve accreditation in the ACR's voluntary programs for stereotactic breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
"Our participation in the voluntary quality assurance program signifies our commitment to high-quality care," said Dr. Arlette Brown, Managing Physician of Breast Imaging at Kelsey-Seybold. "Patients can be confident that our breast diagnostic programs meet the standards necessary for excellence in patient care."
Kelsey-Seybold's nationally recognized Breast Diagnostic Center offers a full range of breast care technologies and coordinated fast-track diagnostic services. A medical support team, including nurses, specialists and counselors, is dedicated to helping each patient upon the result of an abnormal mammogram.

"Our team is committed to providing each woman under the care of our Breast Diagnostic Center the attention and support they need to help avoid those sleepless nights associated with abnormal results."
The American College of Radiology awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and a quality assurance program. The reviewers report their findings to the ACR's Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
