Donald Owens, MD, FACP, Dermatologist at Kelsey-Seybold - Tanglewood Clinic, Honored For 50 Years of Dedicated Service
Houston (December 30, 2016) – On Weds., Dec. 7, 2016, Kelsey-Seybold employees who had reached a milestone year in their careers at the clinic were invited to attend a loyalty luncheon, held annually to celebrate committed service to the clinic and patients in the Greater Houston area. One honoree in particular stood out – Donald Owens, M.D., F.A.C.P., dermatologist at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic – Tanglewood. According to clinic records, Dr. Owens is the first employee to serve with 50-years of continuous employment with Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.
“Many of our employees reach milestone years in their careers – our organization thrives because of our pool of experienced personnel, both administratively and clinically,” said Tony Lin, M.D., F.H.M., Chairman of the Board, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. “Dr. Owens has proudly served our organization and patients for 50 years as an excellent dermatologist and dermatopathologist. He began with us in 1966 and retired in July of 2016. We thank Dr. Owens for his loyalty to this organization and to our patients.”
Dr. Owens began at Kelsey-Seybold’s first location on Fannin Street. He was the 35th doctor hired at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Dr. Owens joined Kelsey-Seybold because of the close mentoring relationship he had developed with Mavis P. Kelsey, M.D., founder of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, during his sophomore year of medical school. The clinic now boasts 20 locations across the Greater Houston area and more than 460 physicians and allied health professionals.
When asked for words of wisdom for others beginning their careers in medicine, Dr. Owens responded: “Enjoy what you’re doing and you’ll never work a day in your life.” He sums up his career and experience at Kelsey-Seybold with one word, “Wonderful.”
In honor of Dr. Owens’ major accomplishments and his years of service to the clinic, Kelsey-Seybold will dedicate and name a conference room in his honor at the Tanglewood Clinic.
