Fall Weddings – How to Look Great on the Big Day!

Believe it or not, Fall will be here before we know it. Now is the time to start getting your skin ready for its close up on the big day!

Whether you’re the bride, mother of the bride, bridesmaid, groom or even just an invited guest who wants to look their best, wedding celebrations are a time to shine. With a little planning, cosmetic services can provide an opportunity to look and feel your very best, and especially for your professional photos and for social media on the big day!

Board-certified Dermatologist, Dr. Lana Hawayek who practices in The Woodlands is fellowship-trained in cosmetic procedures and helps brides achieve clear, glowing skin for their big day.

“It’s best to plan several months in advance,” says Dr. Hawayek.  “When I see anyone in the wedding party, I devise a full treatment plan so that we can have them looking fantastic for the big day.”
In addition to recommendations for medical-grade skincare, like SkinCeuticals®, and medical treatments for acne, Dr. Hawayek often advises a series of customized chemical peels to help with acne, acne scars, pores, oil control and exfoliation. The peels are usually done every 2-3 weeks but occasionally, when pressed for time she has seen amazing results doing them on a weekly basis. She advises the last peel be done at least two weeks prior to the wedding.
Dr. Hawayek also recommends Botox® injections to smooth out dynamic wrinkles before the big day but notes that since it takes two weeks to achieve the full effect, she recommends treatment at least three weeks before the wedding to allow for any necessary touch-ups.
Dr. Hawayek utilizes injectable dermal fillers (like Juvederm®, to fill any deep or superficial lines on the face, to accomplish a softer and more youthful look. She recommends doing fillers at least six weeks before the wedding to allow time for any potential bruising to resolve and for a more natural result.
Dr. Hawayek advises patients using Retin A or other retinoid medications against waxing before the wedding (eyebrows, for example). She also encourages “religious use” of an appropriate sunscreen, so that there’s no risk of sunburn and the uneven tone and peeling that can accompany a sunburn. “Be especially conscientious,” she warns. “You want everything to be perfect for those cherished photographs”.  To schedule a consult with Dr. Hawayek at The Woodlands Clinic, please call 713-442-1899. CoolSculpting® for Fat Loss
Non-invasive CoolSculpting is a great way to contour various areas of the body including the abdominal area, thighs, upper arms and even that little area of the chest beside the armpit that women love hate (think strapless dress) and also to reduce fullness beneath the chin.
It takes about seven weeks for the full results with CoolSculpting® and some patients may need more than one treatment so it’s best to have a consultation to confirm the desired results and best course of action several months in advance. Click here to arrange for a consultation.
