After earning her medical degree from the University of Dhaka in 1985, Zakia Nuruddin, M.D., completed her internship and residency at the Lutheran Medical Center in 1999.

Dr. Nuruddin is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Academy of Family Physicians and Harris County Medical Society.

Hobbies and Intere​​sts

When not caring for patients, Dr. Nuruddin enjoys reading books, listening to music, traveling and gardening during spring and fall.

Fun F​​acts

Dr. Nuruddin's favorite meal is anything involving Mediterranean foods. She says the best advice she's ever received is “Do not be afraid, have faith.” The most interesting place she’s visited was Rio de Janiero. Her favorite book is “Tuesdays with Morrie.”

Dr. Nuruddin's guilty pleasure is dark chocolate. Her least favorite subject in school was math. If she could spend the day with any celebrity, she'd like it to be with Bill Gates. 

​I believe that listening to my patients is vital to help me formulate the best approach to manage or address their concerns and problems. It is necessary to building a lasting relationship based on mutual trust. Empowering and educating my patients based on the most recent evidence-based guidelines helps them be proactive in taking charge of their well-being.
