Growing up in our culture with variable parental oversight, considerable academic pressure, ever-present peer influences and social stress can be problematic for young people. If we are to assist them with a successful transition from childhood through adolescence to adulthood, we need to get involved, we need to try to understand them, help them understand themselves and support these great kids, not be intimidated by their subculture.
