Professional Background

Dr. Kelsey Shanahan-Prendergast earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., in 2009. In 2014, she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine in Grand Cayman. In 2018, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. In 2019, Dr. Shanahan-Prendergast worked as a hospitalist at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, N.J. She joined Kelsey-Seybold in February 2020.

Dr. Shanahan-Prendergast is a member of the American College of Physicians Guided Fellowship Program, the American Heart Association, and the Texas Medical Association.

Hobbies and Interests

Dr. Shanahan-Prendergast enjoys traveling, fitness, and target shooting.

The best advice Dr. Shanahan-Prendergast has received is, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
Dr. Shanahan-Prendergast has lived in quite a few places, including Europe and the Cayman Islands. She enjoyed the Cayman Islands the most because of the beaches.
Something a lot of people don’t know about her is that she’s tough and resilient.
