Professional Background

Dr. Benjamin Farnia earned his Bachelor of Arts at The University of Texas at Dallas, where he graduated summa cum laude with a double major in in biology and psychology. Dr. Farnia completed his medical training at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), obtaining his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2015. During his time at BCM, Dr. Farnia customized his medical education through advanced training in biomedical ethics and space medicine. He also conducted a research year in the Department of Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center to gain insight and learn how to critically appraise medical research. After an intern year at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School in Austin, Dr. Farnia completed his radiation oncology residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2020, where he also served as chief resident. During his residency training, Dr. Farnia was one of two residents selected nationally to participate in an international externship at the Heidelberg Ion Therapy (HIT) center in Heidelberg, Germany, where he gained hands-on training with proton and carbon ion therapies.

Hobbies and Interests

Dr. Farnia enjoys running, weightlifting, traveling, exploring new cultures and cuisines, meeting new people, attending church, and exploring Costco.

The best advice Dr. Farnia has ever received is “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”

His guilty pleasure is dark chocolate.
