How do I schedule a mammogram at Kelsey-Seybold?
As part of a physical or well-woman exam, your physician may advise you to have a mammogram. Once the physician’s order has been placed, call 713-442-1161 to schedule your mammogram.
To accommodate busy women who wish to schedule a screening mammogram without first having to schedule a primary care physician (PCP) visit to obtain a mammography order, we accept self-requested mammography patients.
Certain self-requested criteria apply:
- You must be at least 40 years old.
- You must be an established Kelsey-Seybold Clinic patient.
- You must be asymptomatic. If you have symptoms, such as a lump in your breast or armpit, nipple changes (discharge, inversion, retraction, or itching), skin changes (redness, dimpling, or thickening), or have a personal history of breast cancer that occurred less than five years ago, you must first schedule a primary care physician visit to obtain a diagnostic order.
If you’re 40 or older and it’s been more than a year since your last well-woman exam and mammogram, you can schedule both by calling our 24/7 Contact Center at 713-442-0000 or our Well-Woman Hotline at 713-442-1161. Please inform our Contact Center representative that you’re calling to schedule both a well-woman exam and mammogram.
Where can I have a mammogram at Kelsey-Seybold?
After your physician submits an order, you can schedule your mammogram appointment at any Kelsey-Seybold location offering mammography and related screening and diagnostic services. To accommodate busy women who wish to schedule a screening mammogram without first having to schedule a primary care physician (PCP) visit to obtain a mammography order, we accept self-requested mammography patients.
At what age should I get a screening mammogram?
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic strongly encourages monthly breast self-exams. Screening mammograms are routinely administered to detect breast cancer in women who have no signs or symptoms of breast cancer. Women may begin screening at age 40. If you are at high risk because of a strong family history of breast cancer, please consult with your physician to determine a screening plan.

Does Kelsey-Seybold have a breast cancer support group? What other resources are available to patients?
The Kelsey-Seybold Breast Cancer Support Group meets at our Berthelsen Main Campus. Sponsored by the Kelsey Research Foundation, the Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center, and the American Cancer Society, the support group is open to breast cancer survivors and those newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
