Laser treatment can improve skin appearance

Laser Treatment Can Help Diminish Skin Blotchiness

January 14, 2019
If you have red blotchiness around your nose and face, your facial condition is probably rosacea, a chronic, confidence-killing skin disorder caused by abnormally dilated blood vessels," says Riva Collins, MD, a board-certified dermatologist at Kelsey-Seybold.

"Fortunately, rosacea, as well as wrinkles, spider veins, age spots, stretch marks, acne scars, and other skin disorders, can be successfully treated using our Vbeam laser," she adds.
The Vbeam is a state-of-the-art laser with a well-documented history of safety and effectiveness. "Vbeam applications are fast – usually 10 to 15 minutes – and conveniently performed in my office," Dr. Collins says.

Using a hand-held component, she directs intense micro-pulses of concentrated laser light that passes safely through the skin to substantially reduce or eliminate unsightly blood vessels or other skin distortions. The beam can be varied in intensity and duration as needed.

"It's gentle enough for babies, effectively reducing port-wine stains or other unwanted birthmarks," Dr. Collins says. "In just a few treatments – sometimes in a single treatment – patients can achieve excellent, often dramatic results."

Deeply pigmented areas may require additional office visits to achieve optimal results. And for certain skin types, Vbeam treatments would not be the appropriate therapy.

"If you have concerns, see a qualified dermatologist and discuss treatment options. But remember, skin disorders, especially on the face, should not be ignored. If left untreated, abnormalities can progress to disfigurement," cautions Dr. Collins.
