Kelsey-Seybold to Double Capacity, Add Medical Staff with Second Pearland Location
Multispecialty center opening in early 2010 to meet the needs of growing community
HOUSTON (Nov. 3, 2009) – To meet the needs of the fast-growing Pearland community, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic will double its clinical space and expand its medical staff with the opening of a second location. The new multispecialty center at Shadow Creek Ranch is slated to open in March 2010.
Construction is expected to begin soon on Kelsey Seybold Clinic – Shadow Creek Ranch, a 10,000-square-foot facility located within the existing 78,000-square-foot Pearland Medical Building at Shadow Creek Parkway and Texas Highway 288. The new multispecialty center will be located about 3 miles from Kelsey-Seybold’s Silverlake Clinic, the current Pearland location which opened in 2000.
The Shadow Creek Ranch location will offer specialty care services including Obstetrics and Gynecology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine and Dermatology. The center will also provide routine diagnostic and ancillary services, including laboratory, X-ray and ultrasound services. Kelsey-Seybold’s original location at Silverlake will continue to offer primary care services for the entire family, adding to its roster of specialists in Family Medicine and Pediatrics.
“As Pearland continues to experience fast-paced growth, we are responding to the community’s health care needs by increasing the availability of both primary care doctors and specialists with the opening of a second location,” said Dr. Spencer Berthelsen, chairman of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. “Our expansion means we can better deliver convenient, quality care.”
Dr. Berthelsen said Kelsey-Seybold is focused on providing Pearland residents with more access to specialty services as well as making health care delivery more convenient for the large number of residents who commute to the Medical Center and Downtown Houston during the week.
“Many of our Pearland patients work downtown or in the Texas Medical Center,” said Dr. Berthelsen. “We offer convenient locations downtown and at our Main Campus near the Texas Medical Center as well as Pearland. Our patients can choose the location that’s most convenient to them, and still maintain continuous access to their personal health information through our electronic medical records system.”
With 56 percent of its population between the ages of 25 and 64 years old, Pearland is the fastest growing community in the Houston metropolitan area and also ranks 34th in the nation for population growth, according to Forbes magazine.
Kelsey-Seybold and the Pearland Chamber of Commerce plan to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony in early 2010, and offer additional opportunities for education during the rest of the year.
