Elihu N. Root, M.D. Distinguished Lectureship Series Kicks Off


WHAT:

The Kelsey Research Foundation is pleased to announce the Elihu N. Root, M.D. Distinguished Lectureship. The inaugural ethics lecture will feature Yoram Unguru, M.D., M.S., M.A., F.A.A.P. who will present “The Experiences of Children Enrolled in Pediatric Oncology Research: Implications for Assent.” Dr. Unguru is a physician in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division at Hermann and Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai and a faculty member at the Berman Bioethics Institute at John S. Hopkins University.

WHY:

The lectureship is being held in memory of Dr. Elihu Root, who was a distinguished member of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and long-time Chief of the Hematology/Oncology Department. His devotion to bioethics and the Kelsey-Seybold tradition of excellence in oncology and cancer care earned him a place of honor in his field and the admiration of both staff and patients. In his memory, the Elihu N. Root, M.D. Memorial Fund was established to support the annual lecture and provide continuing medical education in oncology and bioethics to physicians and other health care professionals.

Any health care professional who is interested can attend.
