Kids Bring their Teddies to Kelsey-Seybold Clinic’s Main Campus for an Educational Event
When your teddy bear is feeling under the weather, where can you take it? Kelsey-Seybold Clinic’s Teddy Bear Clinic! Held on Saturday, Aug, 29, 2009 at Kelsey-Seybold’s Main Campus at 2727 West Holcombe Blvd, the special event encouraged young boys and girls to take their furry friends in to receive checkups.
Members of Kelsey-Seybold’s Wellness Team were on hand to check vital signs, bandage the teddy bears’ wounds or, if nothing was ailing them, send the teddy bear on its way for the next round of play time.
For the parents, Community Health Choice was available to provide information about Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which is now being accepted at Kelsey-Seybold.
After the teddy bears received their checkups, kids received a checkup of their own. Stations manned by the Wellness Team measured body mass index, height and weight. All children who attended received a teddy bear of their own to take home.
The Health Museum’s Fun Discovery Cart provided a fun and educational experience for kids to learn about their own bodies. Children were fascinated with the body organ vests and learning how big their own hearts are. Kelsey-Seybold Pediatrician Marina Ramirez, M.D., was present to answer questions and talk to children about their health.
In addition, Raising Responsible Kids displayed their parenting video that will soon be available at the Kelsey Pharmacy. The fun-filled morning was topped off with complimentary facepainting by Houston Facepainting and Balloon Art and a healthy lunch catered by West University Place’s Chick-fil-A.
Josiah and Kaitlyn Blackman enjoy their new teddy friends. The siblings attended the Teddy Bear Clinic Aug. 29, 2009 at Kelsey-Seybold's Main Campus.
Each child who came to the Teddy Bear Clinic received a free teddy bear.
The Health Museum brought their Fun Discovery Cart to the Teddy Bear Clinic for children to learn more about their bodies. Here, Madison Jones learns where her heart is.
