New Lecture Series: Smart Women on the Run
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic expert to discuss cardiovascular health risks for women

How much do you know about your heart? New information has been released regarding heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women worldwide. And during the May 7 luncheon, titled Smart Women on the Run, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic’s Dr. Alfreda Bell, a Family Medicine Specialist, will discuss heart disease’s impact on women.
Smart Women on the Run marks the kick-off of a new series of lunch-and-learn lectures to be conducted by Kelsey-Seybold Clinic doctors on women’s health issues. Dr. Bell will answer audience questions following her presentation.
In addition, participating sponsors, The Women’s Fund, an organization dedicated to the study and research of medical issues in women, will be on hand at the event.

Women who are educated about heart disease will be better armed with the knowledge they need to prevent it:
- More than 80 million Americans, or one in three, have one or more types of heart disease.
- Worldwide, heart disease is blamed for one-third of all deaths.
- In many countries, including the United States, more women than men die each year of heart disease – a fact largely unknown by physicians.

About Dr. Alfreda Bell
Dr. Bell has been practicing at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic since 2002. She received her medical degree from medical school at Baylor College of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency at The University of Texas – Houston. Dr. Bell is board certified in her specialty. She is an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and practices at Kelsey-Seybold’s Houston Center.
