MEET THE DOCTOR

“Patients and I work as a team in optimizing their treatments. I provide them with comprehensive information about their diseases and review management options. Then, together, we decide which treatment is best-suited for their condition.”

Dr. Lee joined the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Endocrinology Department in April 2000. He currently serves on the KSC Diabetes Advisory Committee and the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Quality Steering Committee. He is certified by the American Board of Endocrinology and cares for his patients at our Main Campus and Kingwood locations.

Professional Background
After graduation from Union College in Schenectady, New York and Albany Medical College in Albany, Dr. Lee completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine and an Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition Fellowship at The University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.

Dr. Lee then joined the faculty at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans for three years before joining Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in April of 2000.

Academic and Clinical Position
As an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Lee spends his time away from Kelsey-Seybold teaching future generations of  endocrinologists.

Dr. Lee is director of the Primary Prevention Lipid Clinic (PPLC). The mission of the PPLC is to improve the quality of care provided to Kelsey-Seybold patients with diabetes and dyslipidemia who don’t have a history of cardiovascular disease.  The PPLC is also designed to help patients with difficult-to-treat dyslipidemia, a disruption in the amount of lipids in the blood, reach their targeted cholesterol goals.

On Becoming a Doctor
Dr. Lee’s college friends were quite persuasive about getting him to volunteering at a hospital. So during his junior year, he switched from engineering to pre-med. Now, most of them are also physicians.

Clinical Interests
In addition to making patient care and disease management his first priority, Dr. Lee feels he has contributed to medicine with his research in lipid disorders and diabetes. He is also clinically interested in osteoporosis and thyroid disorders.

Awards and Recognitions
Dr. Lee has been recognized with a prestigious national certification for excellence in caring for diabetic patients, awarded by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Certification through NCQA’s national Diabetes Recognition Program comes after a comprehensive, individualized review process to verify a physician’s adherence to national standards of excellence in caring for patients diagnosed with diabetes. Professional Associations
Dr. Lee is a member of the American Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association and the American College of Physicians.

Hobbies and Special Interests
Outside of work, Dr. Lee, his wife Trang enjoy caring for and participating in their two sons, Eric and Andy’s school and recreational activities. They enjoy traveling to Europe, National Parks and visiting families in various cities in the United States. Dr. Lee also bikes and plays tennis.
