Matthew Wilkening, O.D. joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in August 2011. He cares for his patients at our Main Campus and Clear Lake Medical Center locations.
Professional Background
After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego in 2004, Dr. Wilkening earned his Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkley in 2009. His training included externships at the V.A. Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc, California, and Kaiser Permanente Point West in Sacramento California.
Before joining Kelsey-Seybold, Dr. Wilkening worked at several private Optometry and Ophthalmology practices in California and Texas. He is a certified Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist in Texas.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Wilkening’s clinical interests include contact lens fittings, primary care optometry, therapeutic optometry and diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
Awards and Recognition
Dr. Wilkening has been honored with the Marchon Practice Management Award of Excellence for his excellent care in Optometry.
Hobbies and Special Interests
When he’s not caring for his patients, Dr. Wilkening enjoys golf, tennis, running, fishing and reading.
