MEET THE DOCTOR

"Patients benefit when their physician can bring them the most accurate health information, appropriate aspects of high-tech medicine, and a compassionate and caring approach.”

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CAN HELP PREVENT DISEASE
My main interests are in preventive medicine, and particularly in the early identification of heart disease. I spent the first part of my career as a surgeon and emergency medicine physician. So for over dozen years, was working to try to undo diseases in their later stages. My clinical activities now are focused on disease prevention and how healthy positive lifestyle changes can be made.

BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Brian Arenare has been practicing at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic since 2001. He received his medical degree in 1983 from Yale and completed internship and residency at Lenox Hospital in New York. He completed Preventive Medicine residency and a Master of Public Health degree at The University of Texas and also has an MBA from Columbia. He is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Arenare sees patients at the Kelsey-Seybold Main Campus Mavis and Mary Kelsey Suite, and at the West Clinic location.

“I came to Houston and Kelsey-Seybold a decade ago to work at NASA as a Flight Surgeon. While at NASA I ran an exercise lab and co-developed several patents on advanced ECG technologies. These hold great promise over current technology to improve the way doctors can noninvasively assess coronary artery disease.”

THE CONNECTION
“A doctor-patient relationship involves a special interaction, unique from most other types of inter-personal contact. It involves many layers of trust and benefits greatly from clarity in listening and communicating. There's that interesting phrase "well-being" which simply means being well. I'm constantly looking for insights about how to help patients achieve simple lifestyle goals that will improve their health.”
