MEET THE DOCTOR
Biography "My philosophy of care revolves around caring for each of my patients as if they were a member of my own family. This includes performing careful examinations using modern technology and making treatment recommendations based on science and research."
April M. Lewis, O.D. joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in July 2011 and cares for patients at the Spring Medical and Diagnostic Center and Main Campus locations. Dr. Lewis speaks medical and optometric Spanish, as well as English.
Additional Information Professional Background
After earning her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2005 at Louisiana State University, Dr. Lewis completed additional coursework in biology and chemistry at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. As an optometry student, she undertook a summer research fellowship in 2007, and in 2010, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry.
In 2011, Dr. Lewis completed her residency in Primary Care Optometry at the UH College of Optometry. She also earned the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease (TMOD), Texas Therapeutic Optometrist, and Texas Optometric Glaucoma Specialist certifications. She is currently pursuing induction as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, demonstrating her dedication to lifelong learning.
Awards and Recognitions
Dr. Lewis has been awarded both the UHCO Clinical Letter of Excellence and the Ocular Instruments Award of Excellence. During her studies at the University of Houston College of Optometry, she was also awarded the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society Scholarship.
