Anup Shah, M.D. joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in October 2011. Dr. Shah speaks conversational Spanish and cares for patients at Kelsey-Seybold’s Main Campus, Fort Bend Medical and Diagnostic Center, and Spring Medical and Diagnostic Center.
Professional Background
Anup A. Shah, M.D. is a dual fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon. He has completed fellowships in Sports Medicine/Arthroscopic Surgery and Shoulder Reconstruction. His specialties include sports medicine, advanced arthroscopic surgery, cartilage repair, and complex shoulder reconstruction. Prior to joining our team in Houston, he practiced in Atlanta, Ga. where he was a former Assistant Team Physician for the NFL Atlanta Falcons and NHL Atlanta Thrashers.
Dr. Shah completed his Sports Medicine/Arthroscopic Surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine where he helped cover the NFL Houston Texans, MLB Houston Astros, MLS Houston Dynamo, University of Houston, and multiple high schools. He is experienced is in knee ligament injuries, meniscal pathology, cartilage restoration and disorders of the throwing athlete.
Dr. Shah subsequently received his shoulder fellowship training at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital. During this time, he had the opportunity to work with several renowned international shoulder surgeons. Dr. Shah is experienced in advanced arthroscopic and open shoulder reconstruction, including reverse total shoulder arthroplasty.
Dr. Shah completed his Orthopedic Surgery internship and residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and trained under true pioneers in the field of Orthopedic Surgery, including Dr. Charles Rockwood and Dr. David Green.

Dr. Shah has published extensively on knee and shoulder surgery topics such as ACL reconstruction, shoulder instability, rotator cuff pathology, shoulder arthroplasty, and complex shoulder reconstruction. His research has been presented at national and international scientific meetings.
