Kelsey-Seybold Clinic received notice from Aetna Health Plans terminating Kelsey-Seybold as a provider in its health plans, effective April 21, 2012. The plans affected include:
- Choice POS II
- Quality Point-of-Service QPOS
- Open Access HMO
- Managed Choice POS
- Open Access Elect Choice
- Elect Choice EPO
- Open Choice PPO
- National Advantage Program
- Open Access Select
The termination means that Kelsey-Seybold will no longer be “in-network” for Aetna Health Plans after April 21, 2012. Our patients in plans terminating on April 21, 2012 can continue to receive care at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic using their in-network benefits through April 21, 2012.
After that date, our patients are welcome to use their “out-of-network” benefits where applicable, or other resources, to continue care at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. We are concerned about our patients who rely on us for care.
To soften the impact, we are offering a 30% courtesy discount to our patients who wish to continue to access care. Please review the 30% courtesy discount information page to learn more.
This is a very disappointing situation for Kelsey-Seybold and our patients. We work with payors to the best of our abilities, with the goal of avoiding any disruption to patient-physician relationships. Kelsey-Seybold Clinic stands ready to care for our patients as we always have.
Kelsey-Seybold continues to contract at fair rates with 50 other health plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana and United. Kelsey-Seybold consistently delivers a total cost of medical care that is 15-20% lower than the community average.
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic ended its participation in three Aetna products (Open Access Managed Choice POS, Choice POS and HMO) earlier this year. Participation in those products ended on August 15, 2011 (for Open Access Managed Choice POS) and October 15, 2011 (for Aetna HMO and Choice POS). The terminations of Aetna Open Access Managed Choice POS, Choice POS and HMO plans remain in effect.
